Blair Camera Company - Hawk-eye No. 7

This is the latest camera in my collection that I hope to try.   It takes size 122 film.   Not even sure that size is available any longer.   This particular camera was made in 1901

A bit of history on this camera and its' founding company; In 1878 Thomas Henry Blair, an immigrant from Nova Scotia, founded the Blair Tourograph Company and incorporated in Connecticut.   In 1888, Blair established a relationship with Samuel Turner the sole proprietor of the Boston Camera Company. The Boston camera co was a manufacturer of many cameras including the Hawk eye.   By 1891 Blair was in stiff competition Kodak. To counter the introduction of the Kodak camera from Eastman, Blair patented and introduced the first american camera to move the film spools to the front of the camera called the Kamaret. Like the Kodak, the Kamaret was capable of taking over 100 exposures.   In 1899  the Blair Camera Company was sold to Eastman. Eastman moved it to Rochester, NY, where it continued to operate independently until 1907.
